SATURDAY NOVEMBER 22

ROBO.TRASH

This edition of the always-smokin' ROBO.trash night is a guaranteed dome-cracker. When Aaron Bolton and Orac Records artist Bruno Pronsato link laptops, an unbearably sexy tech-house friction invariably sparks. Laptop Battle champ Kris Moon always sprays the room with the freshest, weirdest sounds software designers didn't know they'd programmed. With DJ N and Invisible Numbers. Alibi Room, 85 Pike St, 623-3180, 9 pm-2 am, 21+, free.

MONDAY NOVEMBER 24

GHOSTLY RECORDS TOUR

Ann Arbor, Michigan indie Ghostly International's become one of those labels DJs and knowledgeable heads obsessively follow. Its excellent roster illuminates the fringes of techno, microhouse, glitch hop, industrial, and the nexus where post-rock meets IDM. Two of GI's recent signings--Twine and Seattle techno producer Lusine (Jeff McIlwain)--exemplify the imprint's ethos of creating music that's as distinctive as a person's constellation of birthmarks. Lusine's Push 12-inch possesses deeply sensual grooves with bass you can do pull-ups on, but his more cerebral, abstract techno for the Hymen and Isophlux labels consistently intrigues, too. Twine's new self-titled disc is fathoms-deep electro-organic experimentation ("Ethereal 4AD rock for the clicks 'n' cuts generation" is the crass blurb I'd slap on the shrink-wrapped CD sticker) that will haunt you for hours. Jerry Abstract (DJing mellow IDM and ambient) and Nordic Soul (live set of hypnotic tech-house sweetness) warm up. Deep Down Lounge, 126 S Jackson St, 682-3242, 21+, 9 pm-2 am, $5.

WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 26

MORR MUSIC TOUR

Germany's Morr Music's become the standard-bearer for melodic electronica that fogs up indie rockers' horn-rimmed specs. With a tribute to Slowdive (Blue Skied an' Clear) and another comp titled Putting the Morr Back in Morrissey, this label literally wears its influences on its sleeves. Most Morr artists tend toward sickly-sweet tunefulness, but Christian Kleine's the exception; he makes tough, funky beats while crafting shimmering atmospheres for the headphone set. Viennese producer B. Fleischmann uses a Groovebox to create what some might call "emo IDM for loners." Hankies are mandatory when listening to Fleischmann's winsome electro-pop. Ms. John Soda (Micha Acher of the Notwist and Tied & Tickled Trio, and Steffi Bohm of Couch) hew closer to Matador-style indie rock, somewhere between Cat Power and the Wisdom of Harry. Graceland, 109 Eastlake Ave E, 262-0482, 8 pm-2 am, 21+, $10 adv.
