Fuckin A when did the Mika Miko set get moved to the exact time of the Jesus Lizard????? Super horrible. Oh, and EG, mika miko has had a male drummer for almost a year now.
Lindy West, your description of the Maldives is unbearable. Ponder this: you were paid to write that series of letters and punctuation. How does that make you feel?
Lindy West, please quit your job. You suck at it. Do the Stranger a favor. Do a favor for any band you might review in the future. ...you reek of pure stinking vomit.
Obviously Lindy West doesn't care what we think, otherwise more effort would have gone into these previews. Were four short blurbs too hard to handle, Lindy? What a disservice to anyone reading this who might be interested in seeing any of the four bands you chose to mock instead of cover.
saw Jesus Lizard at Pitchfork and they slayed. they played all the hits. kinda hoped they'd play "Thumbscrews", but even still... Mouthbreather, Boilermaker, Seasick, Gladiator... couldn't complain.
i, for one, am super stoked they're doing these shows and giving young 'uns such as myself that didn't get to see 'em before they were banned from Seattle the opportunity to finally witness 'em live.
not sure how to read the "inventing" bit. Albini refuses to even "produce" bands, let alone "invent" 'em. judging from the Jesus Lizard DVD interview footage, there might have even been some animosity between Steve and the band.
Wow, this is just embarrassing. I love Lindy's writing normally, but she obviously hates music. Please don't let her write about it anymore. And I don't even know what to say about that Jesus Lizard piece.
jokes? he joked that the jesus lizard just might show the fucking black lips how its done? you guys need to find another line of work. didn't my town used to have people who were at least somewhat tuned in?
Goddammit. I'm positive that I'd probably like Built to Spill's music if I listened to it (which I won't), but the band name and pics just give me such an intense sense of "STUPID FUCKING HIPSTER" that I will never know.
here is why reading the stranger for music is like watching fox news for real news:
re: Jesus Lizard:
"They lacked the bottomless fear of Big Black, the lightning-storm magic of Nirvana, the playful raunchiness of PJ Harvey, and the wit of the Pixies."
OH MY GOD! don't write about things you clearly know nothing about!!!

The two sentences about the Noisettes was bullshit. Couldn't you have looked them up on You Tube? You're paid to write about music and and instead you choose to write about what you've heard other people say about them.
They were one of the best live sets I saw and deserved more attention than that. I wouldn't even call them a rock 'n roll act. They had more of that Lily Allen/Amy Winehouse vibe. And aside from their fashion sense, there's really not much of a Karen O comparison.
I mean, you've just GOT to know.
They were "invented?" You mean like New Edition?
Take a walk, son.

Irrational? Yes. Final? Also yes.
