ELEPHANT 6 HOLIDAY SURPRISE TOUR
I'm not sure what holiday this tour commemorates (let's pretend it's Belize's annual Baron Bliss Dayâthank you, Wikipedia), but that's not nearly as important as who's on tap for this epic show: All-stars from the infamous indie collective Elephant 6 will jam in a three-hour set, with members of the Olivia Tremor Control, Elf Power, Neutral Milk Hotel (!), and Circulatory System all sharing the stage. Will the infamously unpredictable Jeff Mangumâwho is practically a cryptozoological specimen at this pointâmake an appearance? Who knows! Ostensibly, this show is "sold out," but there will be about 100 tickets held at the door, so if you hustle, you just might make it in. The Vera Project, 7:45 pm, $11/$10 with club card.
MARNIE STERN, TERA MELOS
There are two reasons you really ought to see Marnie Stern live. One, obviously, is her insane proficiency for high-speed finger-tapping guitar solos. The other is that she has an endearing lack of filter and tends to spout off from the de facto pulpit of her onstage mic (previously, her banter has touched upon her sex life, drinking, and her beef with Wavves and Best Coastâand that was just one show). The Vera Project, 7:30 pm, $13/$12 with club card.
GIRL TALK, MAX TUNDRA, JUNK CULTURE
If you already nabbed tickets for this sold-out show, congratulations. Girl Talk's pop-music potpourri formula may be growing a little tiresome, but the dude never fails to send crowds into a tizzy. Showbox Sodo, 7 pm, $20.
