PERMANENT COLLECTION, SELF-ACTUALIZED

Permanent Collection is the project of San Franciscan Jason Hendardy, late of noise-pop group Young Prisms and cofounder of Loglady Records. (Remarkably, he's not playing the Black Lodge. Maybe that'd be too on the nose.) Perhaps unsurprisingly, PC sounds a lot like Young Prisms—gauzy, gazey, reverb-smeared pop that's fuzz-smothered and effervescent, halfway between the immersive drones of Infinite Body and the sun-baked ditties of Ghost Animal. Hendardy's Delirium EP (available on Bandcamp and as a vinyl 12-inch) comes recommended. SPACE, 8 pm.

FRUIT BATS

Eric D. Johnson is back with a new Fruit Bats disc, Tripper, for the busy-ass local music magnates at Sub Pop. Tripper's cover artwork places it comfortably alongside the godzillion other triangle-centric LP covers from the last couple years, proving that the "Triangle Conspiracy" will never abate. Musically, Tripper's not psychedelic so much as literal, functioning as a slick indie-pop travelogue. "I'm never going home," Johnson sings on lead-off single "Tangie and Ray."
