FRIDAY 9/16

ALEXANDER EAST'S GOOD OLD HOUSE MUSIC

Minneapolis-based producer Alexander East is an excellent source of deep, funky house. His music's not going to stun you with innovation or surprises, but it will tap into that Midwest soulfulness that's been house's wellspring since Reagan's reign. With Ramiro Gutierrez, Dev-j, and Robotika. Electric Tea Garden, 10 pm, $10, 21+.

TUNNIDGE'S 'EAVY DUBSTEP WOOBAGE

Shift's savvy crew of dubstep heads has lured London producer/DJ Tunnidge to devastate Contour's fixtures tonight. Recording for respected labels such as Deep Medi Muzik, Chestplate, and Boka, Tunnidge traffics in that common dubstep style of slow, menacing woob woob bass pressure and kicks and snares engineered to set off the Richter scale. Thankfully, Tunnidge does this thing with much more subtlety than do most of the aggro bros out there, imbuing his tracks with a real sense of terror. With TZR & Press and Dash EXP. Contour, 9 pm, men $5 and women free before 11 pm/everybody $10 after, 21+.

TUESDAY 9/20

MORE OF THAT LA HIPHOP FUTURISM WITH MR. DIBIA$E

The popular, long-running hiphop weekly Stop Biting goes back to the rich Los Angeles well to book Mr. Dibia$e, yet another badass producer on the Alpha Pup label. We're still flipping over his 2010 album Machines Hate Me, a kinetic reconfiguration of hiphop's sonic DNA that keeps things discombobulated and futuristically funky over 15 tracks. As we missed his Decibel set last year, we're going to make damn sure we don't blow another chance to catch Dibia$e in the flesh. Seattle's Absolute Madman also performs, supporting his new Please Don't Talk to Me EP (Fourthcity). If you've only known Ab Mad for his excellent DJing at Stop Biting, you'll be pleased to know that he has a serious facility for production, too. He cites Squarepusher and DJ Shadow as primary influences, and their flair for acutely arrayed, splenetic beats, skewed funk, and dramatic and intriguing melodies surfaces often over these six tracks. With WD4D, Suttikeeree, Sho-Nuph, Introcut, and Eardrumz. Lo-Fi Performance Gallery, 9:30 pm, $6, 21+.
