BLOND:ISH'S AMBITIOUS HOUSE MUSIC
Blond:ish are—wait for it—two blond London-based women who make sleek, chic house music for smooth operators. Recording for elite labels like Kompakt and Get Physical, Blond:ish (Montreal natives Vivie-Ann Bakos and Anstascia D'elene) use vocals like ectoplasmic wisps of sensuality, but their beats hit with a more hip-smacking punchiness. Check out the spaghetti-western-guitar-enhanced "Velvet Wave" for a perfect example of Blond:ish's unusual charms—more house tracks should come augmented by spaghetti-western guitar flourishes and Canterbury prog-rock organ curlicues. DOMOKOS'S INTRICATELY DETAILED FUTURE BASS
By this point, regular readers know all about Kid Smpl, DJAO, and Nordic Soul. They're all among the city's most reliable producers and DJs of quality electronic music with heart, soul, and atmosphere. Domokos (Seattle producer Vasilis J. Fotopoulos) is less known, but not for long, if I have anything to say about it (and, hey, I do). His 2012 EP Creature Speak is a lavish-sounding specimen of intricately detailed, melodic future bass music in the vein of Hudson Mohawke, Flying Lotus, and Rustie. Keep close tabs on this Domokos fellow. This is a joint showcase put on by Trust, Decibel, and Hush Hush Records. With DJ D'Nelski, Justice & Treasure, and Sounds in Silence. DEEPCHILD'S BULLSHIT-FREE TECH-HOUSE
Deepchild—Berlin-via-Sydney tech-house producer Rick Bull—was slated to play Seattle last July, but visa problems prevented that from happening. Let's hope he can overcome bureaucratic obstacles and grace Electric Tea Garden with his impeccable taste for bullshit-free techno and house geared for those disorienting, wee-morning-hours moves. TEEKO'S INTERSTELLAR FUNK
Another reason why the Stop Biting weekly continues to rule: booking cats like San Francisco–based Teeko. He's yet another Cali producer blowing out hiphop's soul and funk roots until they extend to outer space, where they dazzle like constellations.
