Truly were the last great grunge group, and their classic 1995 album Fast Stories… From Kid Coma should’ve shifted In Utero–like numbers. Led by guitarist/vocalist Robert Roth, this Seattle trio wrote bruising, romantic songs aglow with twilight poignancy and hard-luck soul. Truly’s gnarled, tuneful numbers soared somewhere between those of fellow Sub Pop dwellers Nirvana and Love Battery, and “Leslie’s Coughing Up Blood” remains one of the greatest, most harrowing songs to come out of Seattle. We’re blessed to have Truly back. (Neumos, 925 E Pike St, neumos.com, 8 pm, $15 adv, 21+)
