Instead, it builds in intensity until it has nowhere else to go, but out the door and towards the heavens, like a wayward pigeon with a flock to find. If you like Massive Attack, Mogwai, and Explosions in the Sky, you might like this, too.
Not so coincidentally, Brian Reitzell, who lives in Los Angeles, also composes for film and TV, and his list of credits includes Sofia Coppola's The Bling Ring and NBC's Hannibal (my favorite network drama). Since the 1990s, Reitzell has also worked with Redd Kross, Air, Daniel Lopatin (Oneohtrix Point Never), and Mark Hollis (Talk Talk). On this track, he roped in My Bloody Valentine mastermind Kevin Shields to play the organ (Tim Young handles the guitar duties).
I'll admit it's got a "soundtrack" vibe, like Massive Attack's "Teardrop," but I see that as a plus (and I'll always associate that song with the Fox series House).
