Andrew Bird is the best whistling, violin-playing, self-sampling indie-rocker in the biz. His latest album is weighed down by overproduction, but his live performances are beautifully streamlinedโ€”typically just Bird with his violin, guitar, and sampler, playing intricate songs on melancholy themes like anxiety at the airport and Monday mornings. This time, he has brought along a drummer and keyboardist, adding more opportunity for interplay between men and machines. (Showbox, 1426 First Ave, 628-3151. 8 pm, $17.50 adv/$20 DOS, 21+.)
