It was 20 years ago when Sub Pop’s Bruce Pavitt and Jonathan Poneman
took the Sub Pop label to another level, moving it out of Pavitt’s
house and into a real office space. This weekend, dozens of Sub Pop’s
past and present stars are gathering at Marymoor Park to celebrate Sub
Pop’s 20-year run of consistently putting out killer records. The
Vaselines, Green River, Wolf Parade, and Flight of the Conchords will
be there, and so will Kinski, the chaotic, noisy rock quartet who made
their Sub Pop debut in 2003 with Airs Above Your Station. Five
years and three full-lengths later, Kinski are still blasting out the
(mostly) instrumental songs of epic proportions.
