After Rose Windows‘ rather abrupt 2015 demise, main songwriter Chris Cheveyo regrouped with RW drummer Pat Schowe, Red Ribbons’ Emma Danner, and Our Mother the Mountain‘s Brock Carless and formed Drรฆmhouse. The Seattle group’s latest release, the Only Friends EP, hones a mellow, feel-good vibe and exquisite melodic development, topped by Cheveyo and Danner’s complementary, understated vocals. It’s all very hushed and unruffled compared to Rose Windows at their most turbulent and majestic, but Drรฆmhouse’s songs work a subtle form of magic that repeat listens make apparent. The Stranger is debuting the band’s just-completed video for “Mr. Kerosene” off Only Friends. Shot on VHS-C tape, the video was created on a winter night at the New Tomorrow art space and features dancer Chantael Duke. “We went in heavily influenced by the Panos Cosmatos film Beyond the Black Rainbow and the dance performance-based videos of Kate Bush,” says Cheveyo, who directed it with Lauren Rodriguez; Shaun Libman served as editor.

Drรฆmhouse are currently on tour with the Cave Singers.
