Experimental electronics duo Matmos have unpredictability way down in their DNA, but they can also be counted on for their
conceptual ambition, sonic adventurousness, and spectacular live
performances. On previous albums, the duo of Drew Daniel and
M. C. Schmidt have confined themselves to working with only audio samples of plastic surgery or all analog synthesizers, or to making albums about the Civil War or subversive pop historical figures. Their latest mutation, Treasure State, is a collaboration with NYC ensemble So Percussion, who take Matmos in unexpected directions, from exotica to gamelan to oddball funk. With Lexie Mountain Boys. (Triple Door, 216 Union St, 838-4333. 8 pm, $20, all ages.)
