Think of JACOBITES’ mainman Nikki Sudden as the missing link between Jona-than
Richman and Johnny Thunders. Nikki retains his Richman-esque innocence and bittersweet
songwriting capabilities from his days with seminal U.K. independent band Swell
Maps, and uncannily combines them with a sleaze and wannabe decadence that would’ve
done NYC’s coolest proud. His look, meanwhile, is pure ’70s Jagger. With long-time
collaborator Dave Kusworth by Sudden’s side, the Jacobites’ new Bomp! CD, God
Save Us Sinners, is close to rock ‘n’ roll nirvana–waterfalls of guitars,
broken cowboy hearts, and late-night cigarettes all included.
