Carrie and Corin--sage benefactors of wisdom.
Carrie and Corin—sage benefactors of wisdom.

Well, here’s the cutest damn video you’ll see all day. Are you familiar with Rookie’s excellent video series Ask a Grown Woman? If not, you should be. (And don’t worry. There’s Ask a Grown Man as well. Check out the one they did with Run the Jewels, it’s a personal favorite.) Today’s installment comes courtesy of some familiar PNW faces—Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker of Sleater-Kinney.

While the two tackle the best way to handle breakups, they also offer some pertinent guidance on how to handle the milestone of all milestones—your first kiss: “It’s important to ignore any kissing you have seen in movies, or on TV, or on the internet and not worry that it’s going to be the right way or the wrong way to kiss… It’s as simple as two things touching!”

Then, they give some sweet, heartfelt advice to a teen who is coming out and struggling with how she should reveal this information to her friends and crushes. Corin strongly encourages seeking community support, and Carrie advises telling a friend—as opposed to a romantic interest—first to relieve the pressure of the situation. She also says, “Making these small acts of bravery in your life are great steps to becoming an open person, someone who is generous and compassionate.” And that’s good for everyone to hear and remember.
