Seriously, LOOK AT THIS LINE-UP

The benefit for former Hammerbox member James Atkins, which will feature a reunion of the surviving members of the Gits (!!!) with Rachel Flotard (!!!) standing in for the late Mia Zapata (!!!!!) sold out in a hurry, so they have wisely, generously added a second show, an all-ages matinee on Saturday, Dec 5 at 1:30PM at Chop Suey. Tickets are $20 advance/$25 dos. You can buy them right here, and you better hurry.

The original preview for Friday:

A Benefit for James Atkins: Hammerbox, Alcohol Funnycar, Coffin Break, Stage, the Long Winters, Gretta Harley

(Chop Suey) This show is a benefit for James Atkins, the bass player for the ’90s rock group Hammerbox. Atkins is currently being treated for esophageal cancer and the proceeds from this show will benefit his medical treatment. Now dig this lineup of (mostly) ’90s-era Seattle: Headliners Hammerbox are playing their first show in over a decade; Alcohol Funnycar will perform their classic โ€™90s melodic, mid-tempo rock; Coffin Break are always a punk-rockinโ€™ good time; newer group Stag are bringing the anthemic, late-โ€™70s power pop; Gretta Harley will no doubt be singing and aโ€™strumming; Selene Vigil promises to do the songs of her old group, 7 Year Bitch (acoustically?!); and the Long Winters, aka the unsung heroes of “post-grudge indie rock,” are contracted to play their “post-grudge indie rock.” And, reportedly, thereโ€™s also a surprise guest. Wow. Even if this werenโ€™t for a good cause, thereโ€™d be cause to go, like, ’cause this looks good.

So, late last week the Long Winters dropped off the bill and were replaced by a reformed GITS!!! What? Yeah, it’s their first show in OVER 20 years and will feature Ms. Rachel Flotard, of Visqueen, on vox. WIth the inclusion of the Gits, the show immediately sold out. And the second show will, too.
