The Coachella Valley and Music Arts Festival announced its lineup today. The Indio, California event will happen April 10-12 and April 17-19 at the Empire Polo Club. Passes for both weekends go on sale at noon Pacific Time, January 7. According to the press release, “General admission festival passes must be purchased as a shuttle combination for both weekends. The price you see is the price you pay โ€” prices reflect all fees included. Layaway is no longer an option for either weekend.”

The headliners are AC/DC (not on peak form, if their last album, Rock or Bust, is any indication), Jack White (solid blooz-rocque entertainment), and Drake (please read “Ghostface Killah”‘s critique of this soft-centered MC for further elucidation). From my perspective, Friday looks like the best day, with Ride, Flying Lotus, Raekwon and Ghostface Killah, Squarepusher, Steely Dan, Azealia Banks, Todd Terje, Jon Hopkins, Allah-Las, and Tame Impala providing probable highlights. Saturday’s potential bright spots include Swans, DJ Harvey, FKA twigs, Loco Dice, Carl Craig, the Gaslamp Killer Experience, Parquet Courts, Run the Jewels, and Belle & bloody Sebastian. Sunday appears to be the weakest link, with the exception of Ben Klock, Charles Bradley, St. Vincent, Panda Bear, John Talabot, and probably a few others. As always, your mileage will vary. (By the way, Seattle representation is non-existentโ€”or did I overlook anybody?)
