Ugh. The AP reports:
A Seattle tour company involved in a deadly crash in September can resume operating a limited fleet of amphibious vehicles but must gain approval of a safety plan by the end of next month or else risk being put out of business under a decision Monday by state regulators.
The ruling allows Ride the Ducks to return to Seattle with its "Truck Ducks"ânot the "Stretch Duck" model involved in the fatal Aurora Bridge crash on September 24. The company has pledged to use two-person crews and to change routes, including avoiding the bridge from now on. Seattle Mayor Ed Murray, who had urged the commission not to let the company resume operating until the city was satisfied with changes made to the business' operation, said in a statement today he still has reservations about their ability to safely operate in Seattle and is considering additional regulations.
