The next time you read a story about a cop roughing up a civilian, remember this chilling speech from President Trump. Addressing police officers in Long Island, Trump encouraged cops to not "be too nice" with people they arrest. He also tells officers not to worry too much about hitting a suspect's head against a cruiser's doorway as they're being apprehended. His audience laughed. Watch and remember:
Trump on handling suspected criminals: "Don't be too nice" to "thugs being thrown into the back of a paddy wagon" https://t.co/rZyICcW4Yr

Read:
And when you see these towns and when you see these thugs being thrown into the back of a paddy wagon — you just see them thrown in, rough — I said, please don’t be too nice. (Laughter.) Like when you guys put somebody in the car and you’re protecting their head, you know, the way you put their hand over? Like, don’t hit their head and they’ve just killed somebody — don’t hit their head. I said, you can take the hand away, okay? (Laughter and applause.)
The Suffolk County Police Department disowned Trump's comments:
The SCPD has strict rules & procedures relating to the handling of prisoners. Violations of those rules are treated extremely seriously.
