The fact that nobody seems to really like the bill tells you it isn’t that bad.

The chronic and colossal failure that is drug prohibition will continue to waste money, corrupt the police, make treatment harder to obtain, increase stress upon persons already suffering mental disorders, and do absolutely nothing to stop the harm drug use inflicts upon individuals and communities. In short, it’s a perfect Charlie-Foxtrot of total failures on its own terms, on which score advocates of defunding the police can only envy.

Back in the ‘90s, Frank Chopp, not yet Speaker of the House, told a group of us voters on Capitol Hill the legislature would “never” decriminalize drugs. He told us flatly we needed to file initiatives and do it ourselves. We eventually did it with cannabis, so get filing for the rest. These people will never stop the insanity.

So wait, does this apply to weed? Will it be a gross misdemeanor to smoke a joint downtown? Or just illegal drugs like heroin? Need more specifics, people.
