Holden wants the SPD to arrest some guy based on grainy video and exactly zero other evidence. If one of Holden's friends where arrested based solely on grainy video and exactly zero other evidence, Holden would be screaming "bloody murder" in these pages.

Holden has not said it in so many words, but - again with zero evidence - he certainly implies it's because Neighbors is a "gay nightclub".

It's a shame that Holden demands the SPD us double standards, one for dealing with his peeps, and one for everyone else.

When the SPD develop enough evidence to arrest someone - which they will -, it will happen. But Holden gets a hard-on from trashing cop, he's got a serious grudge going, and it colors his reporting in an extremely biased way.

I just got my pdr request for surveillance back today after submitting it January 2nd. Guess what? SPD says they search their RMS and CAD database and result was no responsive document. I have not heard back from the media relations dept head on what that means.

In much the same way, circumstantial evidence was laid out, a motive proposed and a few more implied, nonexperts quoted and suspicion conferred on the basis of noncooperation.

Why is the attempted mass murder of 750 club goers not being covered by the main stream media? Is it because the arsonist is MUSLIM? Is the media afraid it might cause a "backlash" against Muslim's?

I find it funny that American's are more worried about possible Muslim extremist attacks at the Sochi Winter Olympics when in fact they are at greater risk of being killed by Muslim's at home!

The staff, management and ownership of Neighbours Seattle is both pleased and relieved that on Saturday, February 1, Seattle Police notified us that an arrest had been made for Musab Mohamed Masmari, the person of interest in connection to the Neighbours arson incident on New Year’s Eve.

“The Elassiouti family would like to especially extend our thanks and gratitude to the public,” said Mona Elassiouti, the daughter of the owner of Neigbhours Nightclub, speaking in an official capacity for the club. “Several people came forward with information aboutMasmari after Neighbours released video footage of him taken on NYE. Some of that information might have helped lead to his arrest.”

Elassiouti says that it is their hope that, if he is found guilty of committing arson, Masmari “is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

In addition, Elassiouti said, “We also would like to thank the media agencies that reported the facts surrounding this case and published information supplied to them by Neighbours, which facilitated the identification and subsequent arrest of Mr.Masmari.”

Neighbours officials have been careful not to fuel the fire of speculation; instead we have systematically stuck to releasing only the facts, while having to juggle the sensitive issue of public knowledge/perception vs. police investigation. We have been clear, and will continue to be clear, in our reporting.

Recently, The Stranger, cited a possible connection between Mona Elassiouti and Masmari. These allegations are untrue.


To be clear: Mona Elassiouti does not know Masmari in any capacity. The two are not, nor have they ever been, acquainted. In fact, that applies to every member of the Elassiouti family.

“My family takes comfort in knowing that in the coming months all the burning questions about the arson will be answered as investigators work to piece together the events from that evening,” said Mona Elassiouti.
