Slog PM is brought to you by this Ziploc baggy of homemade edible crumbs: I’m not entirely sure where they came from. They were bequeathed upon me and Chase (the digital editor). There were never whole edibles in here. They were always crumbs. We think they were cookies at some point. They taste vaguely like chalk and vaguely like really bad brownie bark.
King County is looking into housing homeless people in a jail: Whew, that’s going to be a tough marketing sell. There are 426 beds in an unused wing of the King County Jail. The county is shopping around to find a place to put all these gosh darn homeless people and the jail is looking mighty appealing to them. But, c’mon, they’re we’ve gotta have better options than jails.
A segment of I-90 is causing semi crashes: Near Cle Elum a bunch of semi trucks have been crashing. Well, two at least. Apparently the pavement isn’t skid resistant.
Some UW students started a not-so-whisper whisper network: Okay, so the story is that this website appeared out of the blue, created by anonymous UW students. It’s called “Make Them Scared.” On it is a list of names of men—most of whom are current or former University of Washington students—who have been accused of rape or sexual misconduct. I don’t know what to say about it except that, as the anonymous authors state, a good chunk of the names were posted without requiring any substantiation of claims. It seems more harm than what I assume is supposed to be good? It is something formed out of the Me Too moment and frustration out of the frankly abysmal way colleges treat sexual assault but I think it goes about it in a terrible way.
Shorewood High School freshman arrested in connection to lockdown yesterday: The 14-year-old had posted pictures online posing with a firearm. There were also some threats. Shorewood High was on lockdown yesterday. The King County Sheriff’s Department knew the boy from other gun-related incidents. He didn’t have a gun on him when he was arrested yesterday.
By now you all know that Kavanaugh is a hair away from being a Supreme Court justice: I’m sad I had to write that. I’m sadder still that I wasn’t surprised I would have to write it and will probably have to write something else more terrible probably tomorrow. Or Monday because we all deserve a weekend, right? Anyway, here’s some pictures from protests in Seattle yesterday from KUOW:

Clackamas County Sheriff’s Deputies sued: In 2016, an army veteran in a jail cell was going through violent drug withdrawals. The deputies on duty filmed him. They joked, “You don’t think this needs to go the schools as like the new D.A.R.E.?” The man was transported to a hospital where he later died. His family filed a lawsuit that the man didn’t receive proper treatment. That video was released this week. I’m not embedding it, you can watch it yourself.
Tomorrow is that day to take your pumpkin patch couple pics: I do not subscribe to pumpkin patch couple pics but you go ahead. I want to drown myself in the colorful leaves at the arboretum.
Mulling a trip to the pumpkin patch? Tomorrow is your day! Can’t guarantee sun, but can guarantee dry conditions. 🎃🎃🎃

Unemployment is at its lowest since 1969: Heyo! That’s some good news to wrap up the work week. There have been eight years of job gains. The unemployment rate is at 3.7 percent.
Suspect identified in South Carolina shooting: The alleged shooter is a 74-year-old Vietnam veteran and a disbarred attorney. He apparently set a trap for officers who were coming to question his 28-year-old son about a sexual assault claim. The man shot at the five officers. One died. The man was booked in jail. His son was charged with second-degree sexual misconduct.
LaCroix has a mystery ingredient! It’s…. Cockroach insecticide! I knew it always tasted a little funky and always sort of pretended to like it. Except the apricot flavor, that one is genuinely okay. I’m pretty sure LaCroix fad was a collective fever dream.
