Not at NBC, not anymore. The New York Times reports

NBC has fired its leading morning news anchor Matt Lauer over sexual harassment allegations, the networkโ€™s president for news said in a memo to staff on Wednesday. โ€œOn Monday night, we received a detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace by Matt Lauer,โ€ Andrew Lack, the NBC News president, said in the memo. He said the allegation against Mr. Lauer โ€œrepresented, after serious review, a clear violation of our companyโ€™s standards. As a result, weโ€™ve decided to terminate his employment.โ€

The statement goes on to note that while this is the first complaint against Lauer in his twenty years with NBC, the network has “reason to believe it may not be an isolated incident.”

โ€œHow do you reconcile your love for someone with the revelation that they have behaved badly?โ€ Savannah Guthrie, Lauer’s cohost, asked on the Today Show this morning. Sarah Silverman did a good job of wrestling withโ€”if not reconcilingโ€”her love for Louis C.K. with what she knows now, with what we all know now, about his behavior toward/sexual harassment of numerous women:

Ms. Silverman began the monologue by saying that the growing wave of โ€œcalling-out of sexual assault has been a long time coming. Itโ€™s good,โ€ she said. โ€œItโ€™s like cutting out tumors: itโ€™s messy and itโ€™s complicated and it is going to hurt. But itโ€™s necessary and weโ€™ll all be healthier for it.โ€ One inevitable consequence, she said, is that โ€œsome of our heroes will be taken down, and we will discover bad things about people we like, or in some cases, people we love.โ€

โ€œI love Louie,โ€ she said, โ€œbut Louie did these things. Both of those statements are true. So, I just keep asking myself, can you love someone who did bad things? Can you still love them? I can mull that over later, certainly, because the only people that matter right now are the victims. They are victims, and theyโ€™re victims because of something he did.โ€

In other news: admitted sexual predator Donald Trump is still president of the United States and alleged child predator Roy Moore has pulled ahead in the polls and will most likely become a U.S. Senator.

Oh, but it is. And it’s one the right is wielding to its advantage.
