Not at NBC, not anymore. The New York Times reports…
NBC has fired its leading morning news anchor Matt Lauer over sexual harassment allegations, the networkโs president for news said in a memo to staff on Wednesday. โOn Monday night, we received a detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace by Matt Lauer,โ Andrew Lack, the NBC News president, said in the memo. He said the allegation against Mr. Lauer โrepresented, after serious review, a clear violation of our companyโs standards. As a result, weโve decided to terminate his employment.โ
The statement goes on to note that while this is the first complaint against Lauer in his twenty years with NBC, the network has “reason to believe it may not be an isolated incident.”
โHow do you reconcile your love for someone with the revelation that they have behaved badly?โ Savannah Guthrie, Lauer’s cohost, asked on the Today Show this morning. Sarah Silverman did a good job of wrestling withโif not reconcilingโher love for Louis C.K. with what she knows now, with what we all know now, about his behavior toward/sexual harassment of numerous women:
Ms. Silverman began the monologue by saying that the growing wave of โcalling-out of sexual assault has been a long time coming. Itโs good,โ she said. โItโs like cutting out tumors: itโs messy and itโs complicated and it is going to hurt. But itโs necessary and weโll all be healthier for it.โ One inevitable consequence, she said, is that โsome of our heroes will be taken down, and we will discover bad things about people we like, or in some cases, people we love.โ
…
โI love Louie,โ she said, โbut Louie did these things. Both of those statements are true. So, I just keep asking myself, can you love someone who did bad things? Can you still love them? I can mull that over later, certainly, because the only people that matter right now are the victims. They are victims, and theyโre victims because of something he did.โ
In other news: admitted sexual predator Donald Trump is still president of the United States and alleged child predator Roy Moore has pulled ahead in the polls and will most likely become a U.S. Senator.
UPDATE:
I just want standards. You can’t pull out the pitchforks for Matt Lauer or Al Franken or John Conyers and profess to be “sick of it” and not have similar reactions to the Trump or Moore accusations. Sexual ๐ Abuse ๐ is ๐ not ๐ a ๐ partisan ๐ issue!!!

Oh, but it is. And it’s one the right is wielding to its advantage.
