If there was an East Asian version of this club I'd be all over it! I prefer the art/design of Japan, Korea and China. I'd love an excuse to wander around in fancy, embroidered silk robes like royalty from the Goryeo or Liang Dynasty! YES!!!
Jeebus999, I'm in The Outlands of the SCA (Colorado). We have a couple of members that do full on Japanese personas. They have the beautiful robes and even the Geta shoes. One practices period bookbinding. His work is absolutely beautiful; and, has won several awards. I'm sure your local group would welcome you in your persona. We even have two fighters that fight in Japanese style armor with "katanas" and naginata. Do some research and check out your local group. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by what you find.
I think after Kurosawa, they retired the jersey. Retired the trophy. Gave out a "lifetime achievement award" end sent everybody else home.
Except, in Asian immigrant neighborhoods, ordinary people still do this. Dance groups, theater groups, music groups, who knows what else kinds of groups.
If you're curious, keep asking. You can certainly find what you're looking for. ( I met some people in a Korean War re-enactment group once. SOMEBODY has to take the part of the Korean civilians, you know, the ones in the background of every M*A*S*H episode. If you can't find what you are looking for, start the group yourself. )

Sounds like a blast.
