If we wanted to really help Syrians we would work to fix the problems in their own country. Encouraging a diaspora isn't a solution.

Why didn't Roosevelt think of this?
No need to expend American lives and treasure beating Hitler,
just grant a visa to whomever wants one.

Whether or not the answer to the problem is more refugee admissions the question only highlights the fact that the man is incapable of handling two thoughts at the same time. Allowing more Syrians to enter the country as refugees would never occur to him as helping them deal with Assad's campaigns.
