Happy Human Rights Day. To mark the occasion, Town Hall and the City of Seattle Human Rights Commission are bringing together Ethel Branch, Attorney General of the Navajo Nation; Nikkita Oliver, an activist, attorney, artist, and former mayoral candidate; and Jorge Baron, Executive Director of the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project for a panel discussion along with the 2017 Human Rights awardees.
The theme is "Together We Rise," and after a 6 pm reception, the speakers, awardees, and students from the University of Washington discuss their research projects on human rights. Awardees include VOCAL Washington, the Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network, and activists Katie Wilson and Cecile Hansen.
The annual event commemorates the 69th anniversary of the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights. More info here.
