Jeff Mills: In space, nobody can hear you beatmatch. Third Ear Records

Charles Mudede's and my favorite Detroit techno producer/DJ Jeff Mills will be broadcasting a six-part series on NTS Radio called "The Outer Limits," in conjunction with NASA.

The show debuts this evening (Wednesday, January 17), and will explore the strange characteristics of black holes. The program is augmented by Mills's original compositions and features accompaniment by American pianist Kathleen Supové and British violinist Thomas Gould. Dr. Jameson Graef Rollins of Caltech’s Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory provides guest commentary. Future episodes take place on March 14 ("Apollo 18") and May 30 ("Star People"), with further subjects and dates to be announced.

For more information on "The Outer Limits," go to NTS's site and check out the interview with Mills below for a discussion on how he's interested in moving electronic music from the club into the movie theater. And then listen to his stellar, orchestral-ambient-techno opus from 2017, Man from Tomorrow.
