Murray's guest Leah Griffin is one of the main forces pushing to reform the way emergency rooms treat rape survivors in Washington State. Here in Seattle, Griffin was turned away for a rape kit at Swedish Medical Center in Ballard after being told Harborview was the only hospital that handled such requests.
Griffin has also criticized the way police departments receive and process rape reports:
.@leahegriffin: The rape kit took about six hours. And then I went home. @KUOWRadke: And then what happened from there?@leahegriffin: Then I went to the precinct and I was told I had to report my rape from the lobby. There was no way to figure out how to report a rape.
