There’s a lot of bad news out there for President Trump, including a report in the Washington Post on how Trump knows his big North Korea summit hasn’t led to the amazing results he promised. So of course it’s time for a distracting revenge-tweet!

Or two!

There have been other Twitter bombs over the last 24 hours, as well. But to stick with just the Amazon-related tweets for now:

It appears Trump’s not only making the false claim that Amazon was a party to South Dakota v. Wayfair (it was not), but that the president also believes the US Supreme Court’s rulings are an expression of his desires, therefore it would only be logical for Amazon to have “gone crazy” against Trump personally in response to a recent high court ruling.

It’s not news that Trump fails to grasp the whole “separation of powers” idea that’s at the core of American democracy. Nor is it news that he lies a lot.

But since a lot of Americans—and overwhelming numbers of Republicans—still really like our president, it’s worth taking a moment to reflect on just a few of the things targeted by these two presidential tweets: the free press, fact-based discourse, and the independent judiciary.
