First person ever contracts West Nile virus from allegedly local mosquito: This is not that exciting. Other people in King County have had West Nile virus, they’ve just gotten it from out-of-state or—worse—eastern Washington. This lady may have gotten it on Bainbridge Island. Most people with West Nile don’t get any symptoms. There may be more cases as climate change continues to be our reality.

Mukilteo shooting victim’s brother files lawsuit: Anna Bui was killed when a shooter entered a Mukilteo house party, shot and killed her and two others. The shooter was her ex-boyfriend. Now, her brother is suing the gunman and his parents, the hosts of the party, and Cabela’s, the store where the gunman bought his gun.

BREAKING: Seattle is a tech hotspot! But really, Seattle is outpacing the Bay Area when it comes to adding tech jobs. No other place has added as many tech jobs as Seattle has in the last two years, according to GeekWire. Well, yeah, we can tell.

Fundraising is a privilege: Roosevelt High School parents fundraise more than $3 million. Franklin High School and Rainier Beach High School fundraise $0. There’s inequity in fundraising and it impacts the perks students get. Some schools, like RHS, have enough money to buy teachers.
