What happens when our president fires the attorney general and installs a puppet at the head of the Department of Justice? Thousands of people turn out to Cal Anderson Park at the top of Capitol Hill to protest. Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal showed up. So did Gov. Jay Inslee.

“I am extremely concerned about the state of our democracy and that an independent investigation is under attack.” โJeannie
“We are not going to stand for the shenanigans that are going on in our government. Itโs a democracy not an autocracy and we just had a change in the House so I am sure he is going to grab all of the straws that he can to keep control. But the vote said no, we are going to check and balance you.” -Julie
“Itโs hard, especially having a kid. We thought he was going to get to see the first woman president and instead we have had this and itโs kind of like a living hell. Weโre here to have our voices heard and to make sure he doesnโt think that people donโt care.” โRebecca
“I had signed up for this months and months ago. If there was something catastrophic that happened to threaten the Mueller investigation we were going to be warned to turn out in the streets and raise a ruckus about it, that we werenโt going to stand for it.” โCharles Anstett
