Somali warehouse workers in Minnesota get Amazon to negotiate: They are the first known group who has been able to get Amazon management to actually negotiate. When working conditions in the warehouse started getting more demandingโtheir daily packaging quota rose suddenly from 160 an hour to 230 an hourโand management started getting stricter, the workers organized. Amazon came to the table with compromises, but they werenโt enough. The workers are planning a protest on Dec. 14, the thick of the holiday season.
Thousands of Amazon warehouse workers go on Black Friday strike: It was in protest of the working conditions. In Madrid, Amazon allegedly asked local police to intervene in the massive warehouse strike. The police were reportedly dumbfounded by the request and then turned down the request. Amazon is denying any of that happened.
Fuck the rivalry: The Husky marching band went through the ringer last night when their bus crashed on the way to Pullman. There were no life threatening injuries but 47 students were taken to the hospital. Residents of the nearby community brought the students Thanksgiving dinner. The Husky band will not be performing today at the Apple Cup. WSU is chipping in to help:

White House report believes in climate change even if the president doesnโt: A report by the National Climate Assessment was released quietly on Friday. It said a lot of things, many of which directly contradicted Donald Trump. Mainly, the report stated that โwarming-charged extremesโ like the catastrophic wildfires in California or the increasingly powerful hurricanes weโve been seeing are just the beginning. The report focuses on the U.S. and how climate change is impacting each region on a hyper-local level. Californiaโs Camp Fire is 95 percent contained: Whew. With some help from a little rainfall, the fire is nearly out. There are 84 casualties. This is the deadliest wildfire in California history. The fire has burned 153,336 acres.
Michigan judge ruled that gender mutilation ban was unconstitutional: Yes, you read that right. A law protecting girls from genital mutilation was ruled unconstitutional by a federal judge in Michigan. The case also dismissed charges against a doctor who was accused of mutilating nine girls in three states because of religious reasons.
Saudi Arabia faces multiple arms embargoes: Germany, Denmark, Finland, and the Netherlands have all ended weapon sales with Saudi Arabia over the ongoing civilian killings in Yemen. The conflict’s death toll has raised to 10,000. Save the Children has estimated that 85,000 kids under five have starved to death. The UK hasn’t joined in.
