The drama never ends with Matt Shea. Washington State Republicans

Matt Shea, the militia-sympathizing state rep from Spokane Valley who recently made headlines for distributing a manifesto entitled "A Biblical Basis for War", has been accused of campaign finance violations in two formal complaints.

One complaint, which was reported by Fox28, was filed by an Olympia lawyer who alleges that the Republican lawmaker funneled $3,500 to Americans for America, a group the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which first investigated Shea's campaign donations, classifies as "anti-Muslim." Shea also allegedly donated another $2,000 to Citizens for Free Speech, an Arizona-based non-profit.

In another complaint, a campaign volunteer of Shea's opponent in the last election alleges that Shea used leftover campaign donations to pay for his own radio show, Patriot Radio, which is broadcast on the American Christian Network. The complaint also alleges that Shea purchased ads on Redoubt News, a far right, secessionist media group.

According to state law, surplus campaign contributions must be either refunded to the donor or donated to the state treasury, the candidate's political party, a state-registered charity, or used to reimburse campaign expenses. Shea, according to the complaints, broke these rules by donating to organizations out of state.

Matt Shea has until December 19th and 20th to respond to the complaints. He did not immediately return a request for comment. Perhaps he's busy working on his legislative agenda: Splitting Washington state in two.
