No carbon tax, Jay?
No carbon tax, Jay? Lester Black

ICE gets booted from Boeing Field: Over the last eight years, Immigration and Customs Enforcement has used Boeing Field to deport some 34,000 people, but not anymore. King County officials announced last week that they would move to stop ICE from operating at Boeing Field. Just yesterday, the company that services those flights—Modern Aviation—announced they were severing all ties with ICE. I guess deporting people wasn’t good for their brand. While ICE could technically still land and take off from the airport, they need companies like Modern Aviation to refuel, open gates, and unload passengers.

Jay Inslee unveils his climate plan: Not to be outdone by Beto O’Rourke’s climate policy, Inslee is trying to wrestle back the climate change bullhorn with a bold plan for what he would do in office to get us on track to cut carbon emissions. He would end coal-fired power plants and ban new gas-powered cars by 2030, but one thing is notably absent: a carbon tax. Maybe he realized that if he can’t pass it in Washington state, then he sure as hell isn’t getting it through Congress.

Collapsed crane passed at least two safety inspections since 2017: Cranes of that size have to be inspected at least once a year or any time they are moved and built up again. The crane in question was certified first in July of 2017 when it was set up and then again a year later. While it’ll still be months until we receive the final incident report, this suggests that human error may have been the cause of the crane collapse that killed four people.

Why are so many dead dolphins washing up on France’s beaches? The count is 1,200 just this year. More dead dolphins have washed up along France’s coastline since January than in each of the last two years. In about 90% of the autopsies researchers have done, fishing is to blame. The dolphins, who needs to go to the surface to breath air, essentially drowned in fishing nets and then washed up on shore. The scariest part is that only a fraction of these dolphins wash up on shore, so the problem is even bigger than what we can see. Forget Notre Dame, this is France's real tragedy.

Prepare for the nicest weekend of the year: At least so far. We might even get into the 70s.

New study shows HIV transmission could be a thing of the past: This study basically worked by recruiting 1,000 gay male couples where one partner had HIV. That partner would then take an antiretroviral therapy (basically a cocktail of pills) and then they would have sex without a condom to see if any transmission took place. Out of all 1,000 couples, not a single instance of HIV transmission took place, suggesting that it is now possible to fully eradicate HIV in America and eventually the world. Thanks, science!

California just passed an ultimatum for Trump's tax returns: The bill requires all presidential candidates to release five years worth of tax returns in order to be on the California ballot, which is one of the first states to vote this year. I feel like Trump would rather not be on the ballot and complain all campaign about it than release his tax returns. He loves having stuff to complain about.

Now listen here you $#!%: We'll get a little orchestral with the last song of our week of instrumental music. Comment on this post with what you want to see next week!
