It's that time again.

Pistil Books, now 26 years young, is holding its annual outdoor book sale on Capitol Hill (1415 E. Union) this Saturday, August 31, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sip a free lemonade and browse nearly 2,000 titles on sale. Paperbacks are going for $1, and hardbacks are going for $2.

Since 1993, Pistil has been slinging an array of eclectic books you didn't know you’ve always wanted to read: offbeat literary classics, rare histories, progressive manifestos, hard-to-find art books, lit crit, sexuality studies, etc. (Full disclosure and hot tip: They buy the books The Stranger receives from publishers but we don't have time to read, which means they have tons of contemporary fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, too.)

Its been too long since youve had a satisfying heartbreak.

Pistil closed their brick-and-mortar store in 2001 and moved their entire inventory online, so it’s extra special to see their wares in person.

Sean Carlson, who co-owns the shop with his partner Amy Candiotti recommends the following titles. Pick them up before somebody else gets to them:
