SAVAGE-Letter-of-the-Day-STAMP-2019.jpg

Someone I grew up with recently made the papers in an astonishingly head-scratching way. He approached a 17-year-old boy at the gym and asked him to poop in a cup for $20. The person I grew up with is 62. I understand that some people may be into poop in the bedroom (cringe) but I'm at a loss as to what he was up to. Any theories from any of your cohorts? Can you imagine a scenario where this makes any sense? (Not that you're an expert on poop play, Dan, but I can't exactly ask Dear Abby, now can I?) The only thing I can come up with is, horrifyingly, he intended to eat it. One of the many news stories about the incident—for verification—can be found here.

Trouble Understand Baffling Actions

I'm going to tackle this one myself, if that's alright. I don't see any reason to call in the big guns/cohorts for something so obvious.

That person you grew up with is into shit and much younger men and their much younger shits. Some coprophiliacs ingest feces, some only smear it around, and some are collectors. Whether that older man intended to eat, wear, or archive the young man's shit is unknowable—well, it's unknowable to me. The only person who knows for sure what the person you grew up with intended to do with that shit is the person you grew up with. You could ask him, I suppose, but do you really want to know?

It's easy sneer and it's difficult to avoid telegraphing disgust when coprophilia comes up—even coprophiliacs feel obligated to feign disgust—but we should bear in mind that no one chooses their kinks, TTUBA, and no one would willingly choose to have such a highly stigmatized kink. But that's where my sympathy for your old acquaintance ends. Approaching a high school student in a gym and offering to buy his shit—and lowballing him—and then chasing him around the gym and harassing him and flashing him... none of that is remotely okay. If your acquaintance has never behaved in such a baffling, cringe-inducing fashion before, perhaps he's losing it. Inappropriate sexual behavior—uncharacteristically inappropriate sexual behavior—can be an early sign of dementia.
