I know there's the "random YouTube uploads don't count" rule, but in this case the actual studio uploads most of its stuff onto YouTube. Here's the "Irony of Fate" from Mosfilm's official channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVpmZnRIMKs

The copyright issues with Soviet-era works are kind of weird, since it was mostly all considered public domain at the time, but Russia issued retroactive copyrights for a lot of it (as part of the general post-Soviet looting of state assets.) So there's stuff that was previously in the public domain and had been published in the West that theoretically became copyrighted for the first time years after it was created. Luckily the privatized successor company to Mosfilm (the big Soviet film studio) is pretty chill, hence the YouTube channel with nearly all their Soviet-era stuff on it.

You guys should get into unstreamable music next.

@1 Damn, you're right. As a rule, we don't count "user-generated videos, like unauthorized YouTube uploads," to be streamable. But the upload is authorized in this case. We didn't realize it was uploaded to YouTube by the actual studio—"Мосфильм" is "Mosfilm"! Russian is hard... So, it's streamable. Updating the post! And thanks for the catch.

@1 major error on my part—apologies! Thanks so much for catching that + all the useful info. We are updating the post! Thanks again

Oh, wow, I didn't mean to make such a fuss! I'd never actually heard of that movie and watched it this morning after I read your post. I'm glad it turned out not to be unstreamable because it's very charming. Thanks for the recommendation!
