It was announced yesterday, but unfortunately it's no joke. From the Puget Sound Business Journal:

One of the nation’s largest owners of apartments on Tuesday bought the Capitol Hill property where longtime Seattle restaurant Piecora’s Pizza operates. The Piecora family sold the property at 1401 E. Madison St. to Chicago-based Equity Residential for nearly $10.3 million.

According to a Facebook update by longtime Piecora's manager Tim DiJulio (screencapped by Capitol Hill Seattle), Piecora's final day is a scant two weeks away:

This is awful news (except for the Piecora family, who can wipe their tears with their new millions). I've loved Piecora's since I moved here in 1874, for a variety of reasons that I will now funnel into a Slog poll.
