The special guests at this extra-special dead-of-winter silent reading party are four handsome gents. Kyle O’Quin will be playing a Chopin-heavy set on the piano while you sit there and drink and read to yourself whatever you feel like reading, and he’ll be joined for one Beethoven sonata by cellist Sam Anderson. The other special guests—who will just sit there and read along with everyone else—are artist Greg Lundgren (who won a Genius Award in 2003) and my boss Dan Savage (who invented the Genius Awards). Come early! Last time, it was so crowded that people were sitting on cushions on the floor. (Sorrento Hotel, 900 Madison St, 622-6400, 6–9 pm, free, all ages)
