It takes a special kind of intelligence to be a serious scholar of the West's most misunderstood philosopher and distill his ideas into musical comedy. Local writer Jeremy Richards juggles Friedrich's life, ideas, confused legacy (he's been accused of everything from Nazism to satanism), and even his misogyny with goofy wit: "Ach! Women! They believe in 'equality.' Ach! Women! (Why won't they talk to me?)" A few songs and performances are rough around the edges, but what Nietzsche! lacks in polish, it totally makes up for with charming enthusiasm.
