Our arts critics have already recommended 64 great things to do this week and our music critics have picked the 43 best music shows, but there are still lots more events happening.   14. Bad Date Storytelling
    Hear speakers share the gruesome details of their very worst dates—and maybe recount one of your own embarrassing, weird, funny romantic misadventures. Tonight’s event will put a special focus on “erotic misadventures.”

  15. Dominic Smith: The Electric Hotel
    Seattle author Dominic Smith will read from his new novel The Electric Hotel, which tells the story of pre-Hollywood cinema. He’ll also show some early silent film clips. 

  16. Edgar Martinez: A Booksigning
    Pro baseball fans can meet Edgar Martinez, the former Mariners third baseman and hitting coach, as he signs copies of Edgar: An Autobiography.

  17. Mark Manson: Everything Is F*cked Tour
    The self-help columnist and author of The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck and Everything Is F*cked: A Book About Hope will share some of his profane wisdom.

  37. Vashon Sheepdog Classic
    The only thing better than taking the ferry to Vashon Island is the promise of seeing athletic Border Collies chase adorable ruminant creatures around a field. In addition to the competition, this annual herding extravaganza—now in its 10th year—brings local fare, a spirit garden, a fiber arts village, bagpipe performances, shearing demos, and more to the charming island. Celebrity animal behaviorist Temple Grandin was the special guest a couple years back, but this time you can look forward to a visit from zoologist and author Patricia McConnell, who you may have heard doling out expert advice to dog and cat owners on her radio show Calling All Pets. If you need even more incentive to go, know that all proceeds from Thursdays pay-what-you-can tickets will benefit the Vashon Community Food Bank.

  38. The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas
    This award-winning 1978 musical is based on the real-life Chicken Ranch in La Grange, Texas. It pits a brothel owner against an ambitious, moral-crusader journalist.

  39. The Call
    A white couple decides to adopt a child from Africa, which leads to unexpected repercussions, in this play by Tanya Barfield. Annie Lareau will direct.

  40. Joe Vespaziani and Adam Kessler
    Joe Vespaziani has won the Seattle International Comedy Competition and opened for Weird Al Yankovic. You have the opportunity to see him here, with support from Adam Kessler.

    White straight people may still be overrepresented in comedy, but on the local level, there are so many queer and POC comics to celebrate! Travis Blalock will host this night with Stephanie Nam (who also produces), Aisha Farhoud, and Nekia Hampton among others.

    This evening of magic and comedy by Aaron Wheeler promises “a world of laughter and amazement.”

  55. This Is Not the Little Prince
    As the title suggests, this dance by Olivier Wevers of Whim W’Him takes inspiration from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s children’s classic The Little Prince, but mixes in Magritte-style surrealism and other new approaches.

  56. Questival
    In this 24-hour outdoor adventure race, teams of two to six earn points by submitting challenges (which range from watching a sunrise to mailing a postcard to a senator to catching a fish) to the Questival app. When it’s over, prizes will be awarded to the top teams.

    Progressive rock refuses to die!     Stroll through display gardens filled with art installations and hear live music performances from a number of local folk artists (including Ciscoe Morris, the Winterlings, and the Ben Rosenblum Trio).

    Opal Peachey and Annastasia Workman’s brand-new musical, paired with a four-course meal by Erin Brindley and a champagne flight, should be a tasty summer treat. Peachey will star as the quintessential “Champagne Widow,” introducing you to Veuve Clicquot, Veuve Pommery, Veuve Bollinger, and Veuve Laurent-Perrier and their indomitably bubbly spirits as they go into the champagne business.

  60. Hart Island
    The last in Village Theatre’s series of new musicals, Michelle Elliott and Danny Haengil Larsen’s creation is about an immigrant woman and a compassionate inmate struggling at the edge of New York City.

  61. Searchers
    Taigé Lauren’s solo musical theater piece follows one woman’s journey to find out “what makes an American,” meeting all sorts of characters along the way.

    This festival celebrates Native American culture, with a focus on music, dance, and crafts. Special events this year include a Native canoe exhibit, free health screenings, and an art walk.

  69. Art on the Fly
    Enjoy live performances, dance classes, and arts activities at this all-day event in Denny Park. A new highlight this year is a “power performance hour,” where you can perform an impromptu dance on the Instagram Pop-Up stage.

  70. Kitsap Medieval Faire
    Kitsap’s annual Medieval Faire promises an artisan village market, medieval battle reenactments, archery, thrown and siege weapons, and more.

  71. Lard Butt 1K Seattle
    With the “below-average” athlete in mind, the Lard Butt 1K replaces boring water stations with doughnut stations every 250 meters along its 0.62-mile course. There’s also a beer, cider, and mimosa garden at the finish line, and proceeds benefit the University District Food Bank.

  72. Recycled Arts Festival
    Where some might see trash, these Northwest artists saw a palette of colors and textures. Check out an exhibit of recycled-material art at the Georgetown Carnival. You might even want to give these works of rescued resources a new home—all art is for sale. This festival will include a fashion show, an outdoor sculpture garden, artist demos, art-car roundup, and a donation drive.

  73. Shilshole Boatfest
    The free festival will help boat-curious people navigate the process of obtaining a vessel, and will also feature activities on the water, vendors, music, and food trucks.

  74. Tacoma Spring Fest
    Spend the day shopping from over 75 Northwest artists, makers, and food purveyors at this Urban Craft Uprising event.

  75. Filson’s 2nd Annual Backyard BBQ Bash
    Sample smoky meats from Wood Shop BBQ, assemble your own fizzy treats at a root beer and ginger beer float bar, and compete in a Big Buck Hunter tournament, plus shop from assorted vendors for Father’s Day gifts.

  76. Goth Tiki Night With Floodland Brewing
    Goths aren’t known for their predilection for sunshine, but this event will feature “a badass lineup of guest bartenders” shaking and stirring some tropical tiki drinks to bring to mind sunny climes, along with “droning goth music that will turn the reddest heart black.” In addition, the Masonry will have 10 beers from Floodland Brewing on draft and special bottle pours.

  77. Railway History Center Wine Train
    Ride on a historic train through beautiful Snoqualmie Valley, and stop along the way to taste local wine and food. You’ll also get access to the Northwest Railway Museum’s exhibits.

  78. Through the Years: A Time Travel Tasting Menu
    Travel through the ages with this 20-course tasting menu, which will impart “important food stories and history” through food.

  79. Off With Their Head
    Local queens One (recently-crowned Miss Bacon Strip 2019) and Miss Texas 1988 will sashay down the runway in looks fit for royalty. DJ Abbie will be resurrecting all your favorite pop divas.

  80. Things That Need To Be Done
    This six-hour durational dance performance by Lynn Tofil explores the subject of high-functioning mental illness.

  81. Nick Yu He: Two Dads and Three Girls
    Nick Yu He’s memoir tells of growing up as a “straight” boy in China before embracing his sexuality and marrying a man, with whom he adopted three children. Meet the author and get a copy of the book signed.

    Professional storytellers and a few brave audience members will share their dating blunders.

  83. Chase the Light! A Photowalk with Kate Hailey in Partnership with PCNW
