Sara Naftaly’s French bakery on Capitol Hill offers a galette des rois, made with buttery puff pastry and almond frangipane filling and topped with a glittery gold paper crown for a cheeky touch.

The venerable bakeshop is serving up pillowy paçzki, a Polish donut treat, filled with chocolate, vanilla cream, raspberry, lemon, strawberry, and caramel apple, at all three locations. Their king cake, made with croissant dough and rolled with apple tatin and raisins, is festooned with gold and purple sugar and is available by the slice or whole cake (the whole ones have beads!). Both offerings are available through Tuesday, March 5.

The French patisserie’s Galette des Rois can be requested through special order until Tuesday, March 5, depending on availability (call ahead to make sure).

Metropolitan Market
The upscale grocer is selling fried, glazed paçzki oozing with jams and cream fillings until Tuesday, March 5, while supplies last. They’re quick to sell out each year, so don’t hesitate.

Sugar Bakery
The local bakery makes king cake with a brioche dough and a choice of bourbon pecan or vanilla cream cheese filling, draped with some festive beads.
