6. Piano Drop
Here's a piece of local history you might not know about: In 1968, KRAB FM—which was founded and run by the Jack Straw Foundation—dropped an upright piano from a helicopter into the lap of a farm in Duvall, Washington. 11. Seattle Science Slam #17
Emily R. Dworkin will share research on how survivors of sexual assault and other forms of interpersonal violence have a higher risk of struggling with PTSD and substance abuse; Tamuka Martin Chidyausiku will talk about using hiphop to teach students about biochemistry; and Theodore Bohn will talk about how NAFTA allowed the US to "export environmental problems" to Mexico. Experimental weirdo Mike Silverman takes the stage as That 1 Guy with a myriad of musical magic and bizarre hand-wrought techniques sure to surprise many.

15. Singing the Sephardic Diaspora: Mediterranean Elements in Judeo-Spanish Choral Arrangements
Ladino (Judeo Spanish) music draws from all sorts of influences, from Turkish to Balkan. In this lecture, Sarah Riskind will discuss Mediterranean influences in Sephardic music and how they can be highlighted in choral arrangements. After the talk, you'll hear the Seattle Jewish Chorale perform a selection of Judeo Spanish songs, including "Par’o Era Estrellero," "Durme, Durme," and "Cuando el Rey Nimrod."

17. Joseph Hill: Emerging Trends in the Study of Black ASL
Professor Joseph Hill from the National Technical Institutes for the Deaf will speak about Black ASL from the 1960s to the present and its future prospects in this UW Public Lecture.

18. Rick Barot and David Biespiel
Poet and New England Review editor Rick Barot will read alongside David Biespiel, who won the 2016 Oregon Book Award for General Nonfiction.

Four-leaf clovers, also known as shamrocks, are said to bring good luck to those who pluck them. But according to Orlando de Lange, a Plant Molecular Biologist at UW, Americans have long mistaken the Oxalis triangularis, an entirely unrelated plant, for shamrocks. In fact, only a small handful have ever been cultivated on a large scale. In honor of St. Patrick's Day, learn about this sham shamrock and "the role of chance in selecting the plants that we eat and grow for pleasure."

Wrap up your weekend with an evening of cathartic dancing and celebration in three parts, including art vendors, tarot readers, a "living altar," food from Gola's Kitchen; the Get What You Need variety show featuring performance art, music, and storytelling; and a dance party with live sets by the Echo-Hawks, Taqueet$, Adra Boo, and Awilda Verdejo + the Opulent Witch.

Seattle writer La Espiritista will perform original pieces of spoken word music from their self-published book of "poetic prayer," Butterfly: Una Transformación, which "focuses on the transformation process one must go through personally before they can constructively engage in it collectively."

Using his latest release, The Big Book of Tricks for the Best Dog Ever, dog trainer Chris Perondi will demonstrate how to use positive reinforcement to teach your dog (in this case, his dog, Vinny) some adorable new tricks and strengthen your bond. 105. How to Write a Romance Novel
Using texts by romance writer Danielle Steel and essays about the history of women's literature, Mount Analogue's March artist-in-residence, Patty Gone, will lead a workshop on "taste, gender, social class, and the 'difficulty' of texts."
