Here's a piece of local history you might not know about: In 1968, KRAB FM—which was founded and run by the Jack Straw Foundation—dropped an upright piano from a helicopter into the lap of a farm in Duvall, Washington. Emily R. Dworkin will share research on how survivors of sexual assault and other forms of interpersonal violence have a higher risk of struggling with PTSD and substance abuse; Tamuka Martin Chidyausiku will talk about using hiphop to teach students about biochemistry; and Theodore Bohn will talk about how NAFTA allowed the US to "export environmental problems" to Mexico. 15. Singing the Sephardic Diaspora: Mediterranean Elements in Judeo-Spanish Choral Arrangements
Ladino (Judeo Spanish) music draws from all sorts of influences, from Turkish to Balkan. In this lecture, Sarah Riskind will discuss Mediterranean influences in Sephardic music and how they can be highlighted in choral arrangements. After the talk, you'll hear the Seattle Jewish Chorale perform a selection of Judeo Spanish songs, including "Par’o Era Estrellero," "Durme, Durme," and "Cuando el Rey Nimrod."
16. Bonnie Ruberg: Video Games Have Always Been Queer
In Bonnie Ruberg's Video Games Have Always Been Queer, which she'll read from tonight, the author argues that the sheer medium of video games can be read as queer, regardless of whether or not a particular game specifically highlights LGBTQ+ characters.
17. Joseph Hill: Emerging Trends in the Study of Black ASL
Professor Joseph Hill from the National Technical Institutes for the Deaf will speak about Black ASL from the 1960s to the present and its future prospects in this UW Public Lecture.
18. Rick Barot and David Biespiel
Poet and New England Review editor Rick Barot will read alongside David Biespiel, who won the 2016 Oregon Book Award for General Nonfiction.

You've heard of the elusive White Whale, but what about the Pacific Northwest-dwelling Right Whale? Find out at this talk with Atlas Obscura Society and Kevin Campion, captain of the historic vessel Orion.

In fact, only a small handful have ever been cultivated on a large scale. 97. Hecklevision: 'Leprechaun 3'
