As noted in the Morning News, the wonderful Christina Choi died last Wednesday of complications from a brain aneurysm. She was just 34 years old. She ran the Eastlake restaurant Nettletown, and before that helped found Foraged & Found. Here’s an interview with her, and another one, and a memorial in the Seattle Times, and the utterly heartbreaking blog her family kept through the very recent discovery of her illness.
Those who were lucky enough to spend even a few moments with her knew her as an incredibly warm, funny, and all-around marvelous person. This is a terrible loss. Deepest sympathies to her family and friends.
There is a service tomorrow at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church near Roanoke. Her family asks that donations in her memory be made to Seattle Tilth.

i am so heartbroken about this as my every encounter with her was a joy. not only was she a warm, gentle and sweet girl, so was everything she touched as nettletown was an exceptional treat!

I never met her, but the one time I ate at Nettletown was an amazing experience. I’m sad that I never made it back before they shut their doors. She definitely had a great deal of talent.
Nettletown was such a miracle. Every morsel was imbued with creativity and ingenuity, while never lapsing into gimmickry.
It was clearly the work of an extraordinary mind.
You’re right, that was very heartbreaking. I’m very sorry for her family, friends, loved ones, and everyone she touched.
Tragic. The foraging community will feel her loss, most certainly. She was an innovative, creative woman.
