Capitol Hill Seattle blog has an update on the Jade Pagoda building that has sat vacant and unloved at the end of Broadway Avenue for years.
A few weeks ago Redside Partners, the owners of the building, received their permits for a full remodel of the building and work has already begun. According to Redside’s Craig Swanson the building could be ready as soon as July, of course he also notes that “these things have a tendency to take longer and be more expensive” then (sic) planned.
The remodel will accommodate up to three retail spaces, and owners are currently in talks to rent one space to a restaurant. The owners note that they don’t want to rent to bars or night clubs because of the building’s old bones. Its last remodel was in 1967.

Old Bones would be a good name for a bar.
I am glad to see something happening there.
That block needs a Thai restaurant.
@2, no, Pho. And a nail salon.
OK, all three.
i hope they keep the pagoda on the roof. please.
Too bad they can’t keep the oriental facade. Lots of memories from the Jade Pagoda!
you guys are real dicks for not hyperlinking “Capitol Hill Seattle Blog”. I’ve noticed that you do this to practically every neighborhood blog you link to.
Hey Belltown, slow down. They linked. They linked. Slog has friendly habits these days. It’s a whole new Slog!
I was hoping this article would mention Abe Vigoda somehow.
It would be a crime to reopen that space and not have some sort of bar/restaurant make use of the back deck.
a pagoda should be replaced by a restaurant, an asian restaurant.
