1. Joseph Lelyveld reads at Seattle Asian Art Museum tonight. Lelyveld was a New York Times correspondent. His new book is titled Great Soul: Mahatma Gandhi and His Struggle with India. It’s about the political triumphs and failures of Gandhi, from the beginning of his public life to the very end.
2. Political philosopher Francis Fukuyama, who is a goddamned genius, reads from his new book The Origins of Political Order at Town Hall tonight. It’s a dense, heavy, and reportedly incredible book that charts the growth of how we organize ourselves, from prehuman times to the French Revolution.
3. There are other events tonight, too. Read all about them in the readings calendar.

Nic Sheff’s reading is quite interesting.
Have to miss it for a Tsunami Relief fundraiser, however.
Why do people have to have birthday parties on the same nights as awesome readings at Town Hall? Mclame, I type.
Telling Reagan to fund bands of anti-communist murder gangs in developing countries is not “genius”.
for my entire life i will be surprised when i see an image of Gandhi and it’s not Ben Kingsley.
