DIVERSIONS

Friday 1/28

BENEFIT -- Featuring students from Nova High School performing African drumming, Afro-Brazilian dance, and poetry. Proceeds will go to children of impoverished Guatemalan coffee farmers visited by students last year, and to displaced East Timorese. Zoka Cafe, 2200 N 56th, 7:30 pm, donation requested, but not required.

Saturday 1/29

LIBRARY OPENING -- Located in the Fremont Public Association Resource Center, the new library boasts 2,000 square feet of program space, access to a 1,000-square-foot multipurpose room, an expanded weekly schedule, and 17,000 volumes of pure bibliophilistic ecstasy. Wallingford Library, 1501 N 45th, 10 am-6 pm, free.

Sunday 1/30

BLOOPER BOWL -- To get you psyched for the big game, the sadists at Borders have prepared a presentation of everybody's favorite pants-wetting bloopers and arthroscopic surgery-inducing accidents. Borders, 17501 Southcenter Parkway, Tukwila, noon-2 pm, free.

Tuesday 2/1

"MORPHOVER" -- With Valentine's Day looming, there's precious little time remaining to devote yourself to an unhealthy pursuit of impossible media-perpetuated standards of beauty! Send a digital photo of yourself, and like magic, the wizards at eFit will photoshop 10-15 pounds right off your ample buttocks. www.efit.com, free.

Wednesday 2/2

FABULOUS PRIZE -- "Come in and be a part of the excitement and go for a chance to win a trip to either Aspen or Cancun!" Head over to Jillian's to fill out an entry for the drawing. If the groundhog sees its shadow, two lucky winners will be off to Aspen. If it's no shadow, meaning an early spring, then the trip is to Cancun. Either way, it's back into the dark, cold, lonely earth for the groundhog. Jillian's, 731 Westlake Ave.
