There's a story behind every object in this shop. The lavish choker of indeterminate metal? It's from when German families donated their gold jewelry to fund the Napoleonic wars and were given exact iron replicas in return. That filigreed little box with the little white doll inside? It's a French ormolu casket referring to Charlotte, the girl who froze to death rather than wear a coat over her pretty dress on a sleigh ride. Cabinets of curiosities have gotten trendy, but this one's real. Don't miss Patty Grazini's ornate paper sculptures of what women wear in famous paintings.
