When Franz von Stuck made his painting Sin—the unmistakable dark-eyed, bare-breasted woman wearing a hissing serpent—he intended it to be seen from below, as if on an altar, being worshiped. In the first of an occasional series of explorations of historic works in the Frye’s collection by contemporary artists, Seattle artist Victoria Haven created a large, crystalline, gold Mylar structure that will surround the lascivious early-20th-century painting at its restored, righteous height.
