It's Monday. It's nearly 7 p.m. and many of us spent the day still half asleep from weekend festivities, which, if you're in Seattle, included running around outside in the glorious sunshine. Well, ICYMI (intentionally or not), today marked the first Senate hearing for Supreme Court Nominee Neil Gorsuch and the House Intelligence Committee grilling the hell out of FBI Director James Comey. So eventful!
So what the hell happened? Let's ask Twitter's first-responders to the Ongoing Political Apocalypse™ ...
First, FBI Director Comey.
Slog reader GermanSausage, via Dan Savage, described the following video as a must-see for everyone's "Trump-worshipping, MAGA-hat-wearing, immigrant-bashing, Obama-fearing (still!) relatives."
And here's Twitter:

"We try very hard not to engage in any -isms of any kind, including McCarthyism." — FBI's James Comey. Laughter in response.

And let's not forget about Judge Gorsuch, who not only has the same facial expression as Muppet Sam Eagle in the photo below, but was also nominated to fill the Supreme Court seat of the late Justice Antonin Scalia. (So sorry for the comparison, Mr. Eagle, but it had to be said.)
#SCOTUS pick Neil Gorsuch is an originalist, meaning he interprets the constitution as it was written 230 years ago. https://t.co/83GhLhxsWm pic.twitter.com/bpfhT2Aip6

From NPR: "Democrats made clear they believed it was not Gorsuch who should be sitting before them, but President Obama's original nominee, Merrick Garland."
We just wish it could have ended here:
Neil Gorsuch should ask for the hearings to wait until everyone knows if he was appointed by an illegitimate president.
