Bon Appétit magazine announced its 50 nominees for America’s Best New Restaurants this morning, and three Seattle restaurants are on the list: Pioneer Square’s Damn the Weather, Wallingford/Fremont’s Manolin, and Capitol Hill’s Trove. Last July, Bethany Jean Clement praised Damn the Weather as “damn good” (specifically its Caesar salad sandwich), and just a few months ago, I was really impressed by Manolin and its Latin-American-by-way-of-the-Pacific Northwest seafood dishes (get the rockfish ceviche). As for Trove, you’d be wise to head down there for a bowl of the addictive rice cakes with lamb curry for lunch today. (They open at 11 a.m. and serve till 2 p.m.)
Congrats to the staff and owners of all three places. In August, we’ll see if any of these restaurants make the cut for the magazine’s “Hot 10” list.
